New: VintageCam Ultimate with phone protection and individual triggers
The Ultimate add-on protects camera phones, guards and your own phones. What it does, what is new and what it costs.
VintageCam Ultimate is the add-on for everyone who wants not only to watch and listen but also to protect and find devices. It can be added to any plan and costs 6.49 euros a month or 46 euros a year. It is included in the 14-day trial.
What Ultimate includes
Tamper protection secures the camera phone: if it is shaken, moved, unplugged from the charging cable or the lens is covered, you get a message or, if you like, a loud siren. The alarm system is a role of its own for a second phone that keeps watch without camera and microphone, for example in a backpack, in the car or in a motorhome. The GPS track shows on a map where the phone was and when it was armed, disarmed or in alarm.
New: Phone protection
The latest addition is phone protection. With one button in the app you protect your own phone like an alarm system. It reports its route to the household, can be armed by hand or remotely and sounds the alarm if it is lifted, moved, taken away from its place or plugged in. It is meant for couples and families where both phones serve as viewers. Up to five phones and alarm systems are possible per account. Protection is only ever switched on on the phone itself, and Android shows a notification while it runs. The details are in the article Phone protection for couples and families.
New: Auto-arm
Anyone who forgets to secure their phone can let the phone secure itself: if it lies still for a while and has not moved from its spot, it arms itself. Unlocking disarms it without further sign-in. How that works is covered in the article Auto-arm explained.
New: Remote start
If phone protection was not running when the phone went missing, another household phone can switch it on from afar. That only works if the owner has expressly allowed it on the phone itself, with a privacy notice and revocable at any time. More in the article Remote start: switching on phone protection from afar.
New: Disarm with a PIN
Besides password and Google, disarming can now also be confirmed with a four-digit PIN you set yourself. How to set it and what to watch out for is covered in the article Disarm with a PIN.
New: Switch triggers individually
Movement of the device, change of place by GPS, charging cable and covered lens can each be switched on and off separately, each with its own reaction: automatic, message only or siren. So you can, for example, report lifting silently and answer a change of place with the siren. Examples are in the article Setting up alerts properly.
Bug fixed
On the camera phone, tamper protection was at first set to “Off” by default, so it was armed but reported nothing. That is fixed: the default reaction is now the siren, and “Off” can no longer be chosen for the camera phone.
What Ultimate cannot do
A phone that is switched off or in airplane mode can no longer be protected; Android cannot prevent that. The server then reports that the device is offline. If a thief knows the PIN, auto-arm does not help. The honest limits are in Where alarm systems reach their limits.
